Your guide: Cédric Schuhler, a local expert dedicated to your getaway

Hi, I'm Cédric Schuhler. Born in Sélestat 40 years ago, I fell in love with my native region at a very young age. Today, I put that deep-rooted passion and my in-depth knowledge of the area to work for you, so you can experience Alsace in a whole new way.

MY STORY

My story begins in Dieffenthal, a picturesque Alsatian wine-growing village.

  • A Passion for the Vine: Coming from a family of winemakers, my father instilled in me from a very young age a deep respect for the land, the art of vine-growing, and the magic of harvesting grapes together as a family.

  • A Taste for the Good Things in Life: An epicurean and true foodie, I get my love for sharing a great meal around the table from my mother—and from the irresistible aromas of her Auvergne tart and kougelhopf. For me, a great day of cycling always ends with the perfect pairing: oysters enhanced by an Alsatian Riesling, an authentic choucroute, or an adventurous Munster cheese and caraway burger!

A path dedicated to excellence and international perspective

After earning my scientific high school diploma (Baccalauréat), I shifted my academic focus to business, which led me to live and study in Germany and the United States (I am now fluent in both German and English).

Upon returning to my home region, I cut my teeth in luxury hospitality, notably at the Crystal Hotel in Erstein. It was there that everything clicked: my greatest joy is pampering guests and opening the door to Alsace's hidden treasures.

Why cycling?

Naturally curious (Gemini traits at play!), passionate about history—with a special fondness for the Renaissance and Leonardo da Vinci—and an avid athlete (basketball, running, and of course, cycling), I combined all my passions to create Détour Alsace.

Cycle tourism revealed itself as the natural extension of my journey: a gentle, vibrant, and deeply human way to travel.

I can't wait to help you slip on your helmet, adjust your handlebars, and share my favorite secret trails and vineyard paths with you on our upcoming bike rides!
